Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination in Kabul ‘Black Day’ Ceremony
The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul marked October 27 as “Black Day” with a ceremony reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking at the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, described the Jammu and Kashmir issue as a “critical” item on the international agenda. He praised the “resilience and courage” of the Kashmiri people and reiterated Pakistan’s “consistent support for their legitimate right to self-determination.” Ambassador Nizamani also drew attention to what he called the “worsening human rights situation” in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, citing reports from international human rights organizations. He emphasized that lasting peace in South Asia depended on a just settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The ambassador urged the international community to use its influence to encourage India to fully implement relevant UN resolutions.
